Welcome to Allison Papke’s Website!
My Vision
I want to understand how children enact digital literacy skills in research and problem solving in order to revolutionize how teachers understand and utilize digital literacy skills in schools on a daily basis.
I see my vision through the above image, although ironically, there are no iPads or computers represented. This is because I believe that a device is not always necessary in order to introduce or reinforce digital literacy skills. The magnifying glass represents my desire to look at the enactment of digital literacy skills more closely. The spools of twine represent my intention to make connections between theory and practice that have not yet been made. The camera represents my passion for visual data. In the Polaroid pictures, Big Ben and Tower Bridge represent the knowledge I have gained from my experiences in schools in England. The glasses are a reminder to me that I need to see things clearly and keep my eyes on my end goal. The World map represents that knowledge is vast and my opportunities are endless; there is something that can be learned about digital literacy instruction in every corner of the globe. The closed book represents the research of others that inspires my work. The open book and pencil represents my limitless research opportunities moving forward.
